According to a report published by Frost & Sullivan in 2018, there are over 32 million huddle rooms in the world, but only 2 percent of those rooms are currently video-enabled. With this near future of more intimate and less formal business communication in mind, Avaya has just announced a bundle of new offerings designed for smaller meeting rooms. The streamlined solutions include Avaya IX Huddle Cameras, the Avaya IX Collaboration Unit and the Avaya IX Workplace.
“Avaya is moving the huddle room experience beyond the status quo with customer-led solutions that seamlessly integrate with their existing UC and video infrastructures,” said Chris McGugan, Avaya SVP, Solutions & Technology. “Customers also want to use their favorite cloud-based collaboration applications and our next-generation open architecture enables this. The result is a much richer user experience, plug and play simplicity, and the ability to leverage existing investments. This approach combined with the flexibility of a subscription model will accelerate the extension of video collaboration to all areas of an organization and within business verticals.”
Avaya’s HC020 Huddle Camera is a full HD USB fixed camera that provides a high quality 1080p30 video signal with digital Pan Tilt Zoom and the option to send uncompressed signals via HDMI cable. The HC050 Huddle Camera also offers a 1080p30 video signal, along with 12x optical zoom and optional POD microphone additions. Both cameras can be used with Avaya IX Room Video solutions or connected to a laptop.
The Avaya IX Collaboration Unit is an all-in-one collaboration solution that has integrated microphones and a wide field of view, which makes it ideal for huddle rooms. Additionally, it offers wireless content sharing from mobile devices and is interoperable with all standards-based video infrastructures.
The Avaya IX Workplace bundles calling, messaging and team collaboration into one application, either on premise or via private, public or hybrid cloud. This cloud-based service is available as a month-to-month subscription, but with none of the up front costs associated with so many all-in-one solutions.
