The University of Hong Kong recently implemented several video conferencing solutions within their law school. These solutions, the Polycom HDX 8000, EagleEye cameras, and RealPresence platform, make learning a more interactive experience for their students on campus and off. These video conferencing technologies enable the law students to engage not only with each other and professors, but with students overseas.
The law school at HKU formerly recorded mock-court proceedings and played back in another room. This method was time consuming and inefficient for both the students and professors. Students would have to wait possibly days to get feedback on their simulated court proceedings. Now, with their upgraded Polycom video conferencing tools, the method has drastically changed. The environment now provides immediate feedback for improvement, a free flowing exchange of ideas, simultaneous learning for both the students in the court room and observing, and the opportunity to share this with students around the world.
With the combined vision of The University of Hong Kong and Polycom, video conferencing services have provided countless students and the lawyers and judges of tomorrow with enhanced education and a greater depth of knowledge and experience.
