Since its inception in 1990, Polycom has designed, developed, manufactured, and marketed a vast product line of the best-in-class and affordable voice and RealPresence video conferencing solutions, including high definition video conferencing equipment, telepresence systems, unified collaboration solutions, gateways, multipoint conferencing endpoints, and web conferencing solutions.

Polycom has a robust history of adding new products to their extensive product line. The high definition video conferencing product line was created in 2006 with the introduction of the HDX 9000, the first high definition Polycom video conferencing equipment. Shortly thereafter Polycom introduced immersive telepresence with the introduction of the RPX (RealPresence Experience), a complete and immersive total video conferencing room environment. In 2007, after Polycom saw the need for a bridge to support their telepresence and high definition systems, Polycom introduced the RMX 2000, followed by a stream of other high definition systems including the TPX for smaller immersive environments, the HDX 4000 for the executive desktop, and the HDX 8000 and HDX 7000 for small to medium sized businesses. In 2008, Polycom introduced a video conferencing management application, the CMA (Converged Management Application), and a management and distribution application for multipoint video conferencing calls with the DMA (Distributed Media Application) 7000.
